Yearbooks of Agriculture

Reports of the Agriculture Department to congress of the United States of America

The books are all bookmarked for hemp or cannabis….of course “hemp history”   There are many other very interesting articles and reports in these books also besides hemp, since they are online it is very easy to read about farming history.

This is the link to the whole list I created on Google Docs --

I picked out some of the ones which are interesting and put them in here. When you click on the link to the book you may have to “click” view all to see the bookmarks pages.

U. S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Fiber Investigations
In the late 19th and early 20th century an office was created to investigate various vegetable fiber sources which of course included hemp. The office was created mainly because the US was importing so much fiber and we were looking for ways to keep the money in the United States.
There were 2 gentlemen heading up these efforts which produced multiple reports on various vegetable fibers and uses, Charles Richards Dodge and Lyster Hoxie Dewey.

This is just an interesting page… about plant fiber….
